Job Description

As a Commercial Construction Project Manager at Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc., you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. You will participate in the conceptual development of construction projects and oversee their organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents, budget, and schedule to ensure scope understanding.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and coworkers to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Assist in the buyout of materials, equipment, and subcontracts to meet project requirements.
  • Create and submit schedules of values for billing purposes.
  • Review and approve field material orders and submittals to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Issue current project documents to field employees and track material and equipment lead times to meet schedule.
  • Review project progress with Pre-Construction Manager, Supervision, QA/QC, Safety, CAD/BIM, and Purchasing teams.
  • Track labor hours, costs, and material dollars spent, and coordinate labor adjustments with field superintendents and other staff as required.
  • Submit change orders for additional work and issue requests for information (RFI) as needed.
  • Respond to RFIs from other project stakeholders and visit job sites regularly to ensure project progress.
  • Submit monthly progress payment applications and perform estimated cost at completion (ECAC) reports.
  • Maintain electronic records of key project documents, including change orders, RFIs, daily field reports, startup forms, WIP reports, monthly billings, purchase orders, vendor quotes, submittals, etc.
  • Attend meetings with project stakeholders and maintain relationships with owners, general contractors, and engineers.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Four years of Project Management specific related experience

Work Environment:

  • Heated and/or air conditioned office/shop environment with adequate ventilation.
  • The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate, and typical of noises occurring in an office setting.
  • The noise level in the secondary work environment is very loud and typical of noises occurring in a construction area (jack hammer work, etc.)
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, wind, etc.) when visiting job sites.
