Job Summary

The Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field activities on a project. This role reports to the Project Manager and requires full-time on-site presence. The successful candidate will have experience in large commercial construction projects and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day supervision on site, coordinating work of subcontractors and W.E. O'Neil's own teams.
  • Create and monitor the project CPM schedule, using it as a tool to manage the project.
  • Monitor trade work to ensure it meets drawing and specification requirements.
  • Manage the jobsite safety program, including safety walk-throughs and ensuring field crews adhere to the program.
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors.
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure completion of the full scope of work per their contract.
  • Understand the project budget and ensure accurate cost coding and management of labor and material costs.
  • Maintain a daily log of project activities.
  • Close-out the project, including punch-list, finalization of subcontract values, and assistance in negotiating final owner change orders.
Requirements
  • Building Operations: Experience in field operations and construction means and methods, including project scheduling, management of subcontractors, and project closeout.
  • Coordination: Ability to plan and effectively coordinate complex projects with many subcontractors.
  • Safety: Competence in managing major construction hazards through training and experience.
  • Financial Understanding: Understanding of project cost reporting systems and ability to use them to understand the financial status of a project.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum number of years of total experience based on project size, as a superintendent, having managed projects of comparable sizes.
  • Experience in large commercial construction projects.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Excel, P6, MS Project, SureTrak, and Word.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with business partners and team members in a constructive and productive way.
