Parking Compliance Officer

This position involves administrative responsibilities related to the enforcement of parking regulations in public areas. The officer will ensure adherence to parking laws, undertake special assignments, and manage the transportation of items during duty hours. Uniforms will be provided by the City as mandated by the Chief.

Starting Rate: $
Schedule: Saturday, 8am-4pm, totaling 8 hours per week

Essential Job Functions: The functions outlined below are illustrative of the types of tasks the employee will likely be expected to perform regularly. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

1. Patrol designated areas to enforce parking regulations.
2. Issue citations for violations of parking laws.
3. Mark tires of vehicles in timed parking zones, document time, and return at intervals to ticket vehicles in violation.
4. Conduct routine maintenance on City vehicles and equipment.
5. Assist with the collection of bicycles and other items as necessary.
6. Direct traffic for special events as required.

Requirements of Work:
Completion of high school or equivalent training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Knowledge of:

  • City street layouts and relevant police department policies.
  • City parking ordinances.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Business English (grammar, punctuation, spelling, format, and tone).
  • Use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Operational hazards and precautionary measures.
Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Perform duties under varying weather conditions.
  • Manage difficult situations, particularly with residents.
Skills in:
  • Public relations.
  • Operating a motor vehicle.
Necessary Special Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a criminal and financial background check.
  • Must be bondable.
