Patient Transporter

Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're committed to providing exceptional patient care. We're seeking a skilled Patient Transporter to join our Diagnostic Services team.
Job Summary
The Patient Transporter will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients to and from the Diagnostic Services Department. This role requires a high level of physical stamina, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to and from the Diagnostic Services Department, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport, utilizing the RIS system to check-in and check-out patients.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of IVAC pumps, drainage devices, catheters, restraints, and oxygen tanks.
- Utilize stretchers/carts, wheelchairs, O2 tanks, transfer devices, and personal protective equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to provide a safe and supportive environment.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent, with a successful completion of a patient care aide-training program or equivalent.
- Must be physically able to move carriages, wheelchairs, and help lift patients.
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
Working Environment
The work environment for this role will involve exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps, and explosive gases. The successful candidate will also be exposed to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, high stress, and constant interruptions.
