Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing indirect and direct patient care, working closely with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including vital sign collection, medical history documentation, and preparation of patients for physician exams.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing in-basket messages, and completing insurance forms.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient care, including troubleshooting issues and escalating problems as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses, as well as prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Provide authorized prescription and drug refill information for pharmacies, as well as explain treatment procedures, medications, and diets to patients.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Medical Assisting certification from a recognized organization (e.g. CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; enrollment in an approved Medical Assistant program within 30 days of employment
  • 1 year of healthcare or clerical physician practice experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, with attention to detail and accuracy
