Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of the Baptist Health System team, the Nurse Transfer Coordinator will play a vital role in managing and coordinating all aspects of the transfer process. This includes coordinating direct admissions and hospital transfers to and from community hospitals, with the goal of transferring each patient to an appropriate Tenet hospital. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to foster relationships with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staffs, representing the Tenet Healthcare Mission and Values. In addition, the Nurse Transfer Coordinator will serve as a clinical resource for non-nursing transfer center staff, providing clinical decisions and appropriate documentation. The ideal candidate will maintain a working knowledge of EMTALA and other regulations governing patient transfers, utilizing applicable systems to facilitate bed flow and expedite patient placement. The Nurse Transfer Coordinator will also complete established competencies for the position within a designated introductory period.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 4 years of experience in an acute care setting

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: ER/Critical Care or in a charge nurse, house supervisor or other management experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: None

REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): None
