Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiology Department Manager to join our team at South Shore Health System. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cardiology department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a culture of safety and quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Departmental Leadership

Direct the daily operations of the cardiology department, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Quality Patient Care

Participate in the nursing process to ensure the provision of quality patient care, adhering to established standards and practices.

Staff Management

Delegate staff assignments appropriately, ensuring effective use of resources and promoting a positive work environment.

Inventory and Supply Management

Order supplies and maintain departmental inventory, ensuring all equipment is used properly and adequately maintained.

Patient Issues Resolution

Resolve patient issues and report these problems appropriately to management and providers.

Culture of Safety

Promote a culture of safety by assisting staff to report incidents in a web-based safety reporting system, following policies for employee and patient injuries.

Quality Control

Ensure quality control through established specific measures, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Staffing and Scheduling

Participate in the assessment of staffing needs, maintaining a master work schedule and adjusting staff and forecasting staffing needs.

Timekeeping and Budgeting

Complete weekly time sheets and report overtime to management, participating in the management of the departmental budget.

Staff Development

Assist in the selection and hiring of staff, overseeing orientation and preceding of all new staff educational needs and staff development plans.

Training and Evaluation

Participate in the training and evaluation of staff, consulting with a nurse educator regarding staff educational needs and staff development plans.

Communication and Collaboration

Communicate changes and quality improvements with staff by conducting daily huddles, departmental meetings, and communication book, working collaboratively with operations management.

Teamwork and Collaboration

Work collaboratively with all departments, communicating effectively with other managers and supervisors.

Adaptability and Flexibility

Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Two or more years of previous nursing experience, with experience in an ambulatory environment preferred
  • Past supervisory experience is a must
  • Current MA State RN nursing license
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Computer proficiency, including efficient use of electronic medical records and patient registration/billing systems
