Job Title: Lead Systems Integrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Systems Integrator to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the integration of complex systems for US Navy platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading the integration of complex systems for US Navy platforms
  • Overseeing software development activities
  • Identifying, quantifying, and prioritizing solutions to address technical issues
  • Scheduling development of and prioritizing software features
  • Communicating with sponsors
  • Collaborating with partners and vendors
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems Security, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience leading development and integration teams for complex systems
  • Proficiency in recommending and obtaining proper approval for deviations from established policies and procedures
  • Experience with version control systems, including Git or Perforce and Git Flow branching schemes
  • Extensive experience with designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications using agile methods
  • Ability to travel to and from sponsor and test sites up to 20% of the time
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with Go, Python, and Java programming languages
  • Active Secret security clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems Security, or related field
  • 10-15 years of experience with US Navy Combat Systems, weapons, sensors, or other related operational military technology and understanding of ship installation process
  • Previous experience leading system design and/or architecture development for a complex system that is in current operational use
  • Extensive experience planning for and leading complex hardware and/or software integration activities
  • Detailed understanding of software architectures and networking and Linux
  • In-depth understanding of integration design patterns, security best practices, and communication protocols/techniques
  • Quality management related certification
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • Proficiency with DevSecOps pipeline, automated deployment tools, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment methodologies
  • In-depth understanding of software unit testing and integration testing
  • Extensive experience with static and dynamic code analysis tools
  • Proficiency in integrating cybersecurity tools, to include identity management, into DoD systems
