Position Summary:

The Protection and Control Engineer will be instrumental in the design, development, and execution of protection and control systems for electrical substations. This role involves working alongside a diverse team to ensure that projects adhere to industry standards and client requirements while being delivered on schedule and within financial constraints. Your specialized knowledge will enhance the reliability and efficiency of electrical power systems that serve various communities and industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Create and execute protection and control strategies for high-voltage substations, focusing on relay configurations, control logic, and SCADA integration.
  • Documentation: Generate comprehensive engineering drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring all materials are precise, thorough, and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Collaboration: Engage with various engineering disciplines, project leaders, and clients to provide cohesive solutions. Attend project meetings and offer technical insights.
  • Quality Control: Perform site evaluations and inspections to confirm that installations meet design specifications and safety regulations. Tackle and resolve any technical challenges that arise during the construction phase.
  • Continuous Improvement: Keep updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices. Implement innovative strategies to enhance design efficiency and project results.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Licenses: Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and analytical tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME). Experience in relay programming and SCADA systems is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge Base: Strong grasp of IEEE, NESC, and other pertinent standards and regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. Capable of presenting complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues effectively.
