Job Summary

James Madison University is seeking a highly skilled Financial Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Sociology and Anthropology department, you will be responsible for managing the department's financial operations, including budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and credit card reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process expenditure forms and maintain expenditure database
  • Reconcile department and grant budgets
  • Process student awards through the department's Foundation account
  • Assist in setting up new grants and complete follow-up forms and software access
  • Process travel through Chrome River, JMU's mobile expense management software
  • Prepare hiring documents for grant hired students and enter hours into appropriate systems
  • Use the eVA state procurement system for purchasing equipment and supplies
  • Use the AIM work order system to enter building work orders for the archaeology lab
  • Reconcile the department's Small Purchase credit card monthly
  • Maintain the department website
  • Maintain the archaeology lab physical inventory
  • Acquire dash and visitor parking passes for the archaeology parking spaces
  • Perform office duties as assigned and serve as back-up for the office manager
Requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Financial experience, including budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and credit card reconciliation
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with web design/management is beneficial
