Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutritionist to join our team at the Virginia Department of Health. As a Nutritionist, you will be responsible for providing nutrition services to clients in various settings within our district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient nutritional assessments and evaluations in clinics, schools, and community settings.
  • Develop and monitor nutritional care plans and food packages.
  • Certify clients for participation in available public health programs.
  • Schedule, provide, and document basic and secondary/high risk nutrition education.
  • Make referrals to programs such as Medicaid, AFDC, and SNAP benefits.
Requirements
  • Must meet requirements for use of title Dietitian/Nutritionist as authorized by Code of VA.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics.
  • Knowledge of nutrition principles and ability to make appropriate nutritional assessments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Ability to properly counsel participants.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Registered Dietitian preferred.
  • Prior public health experience and/or experience with WIC program preferred.

We offer a competitive salary range of $48,072 - $52,393, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, retirement plans, and paid holidays.

Eligible employees can also apply for the VA/MD/DC WIC Dietetic Internship to further their studies in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.
