The Director of Medical Services will be responsible for overseeing the healthcare operations within their designated department. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, this role is crucial in ensuring high-quality patient care, addressing patient concerns, and enhancing departmental profitability while effectively managing the clinical team.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties:
- Deliver direct patient care and collaborate with Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
- Supervise the healthcare services provided in the department.
- Manage the clinical staff and ensure proper coverage for patient care.
- Facilitate the onboarding and performance monitoring of new clinical staff.
- Represent the medical staff's interests to management and vice versa.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Participate in management meetings to contribute to strategic decisions.
Collaborative Duties:
- Assist in establishing policies that promote quality care and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate clinical services with the Chief Medical Officer and other management personnel.
- Support the recruitment and development of clinical staff.
Consultative Duties:
- Oversee the provision of medical services within the department.
- Manage nursing staff effectively.
Information Duties:
- Represent the department's interests to other organizational units and external agencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in a clinical non-profit setting.
- Licensed physician with strong communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with management to achieve organizational goals.
Education & Experience:
- Board Certified Physician.
- Licensed to practice in California without restrictions.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management experience in a similar role.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
