The City of San José is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Finance Director to join its team. Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the financial condition of the City, including a $2.5 billion investment portfolio, $4.9 billion debt portfolio, and financial reporting for $5 billion in annual expenditures.
- Oversee the management of a staff of 131 full-time equivalent positions with an annual operating budget of $27.4 million.
- Provide financial guidance and advice to the City Manager and other senior leaders on matters related to the financial condition of the City.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure the City's financial integrity and fiscal responsibility.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial management and reporting.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in fiscal management or budgetary control, with at least 5 years at a management and policy-making level with direction of professional accounting or fiscal management.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of financial professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, department heads, and other stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and develop effective solutions.
The City of San José offers a competitive salary range of $192,774 to $312,257, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
