Penn State Health is seeking an experienced Medical Nurse Specialist to join our inpatient care team in Enola, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Med Surg / Telemetry nursing and excellent communication skills.

About the Role

The Medical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for assessing patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and maintaining accurate medical records. The successful candidate will also provide direct patient care, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, develop and implement personalized care plans, and monitor progress towards goals.
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide hands-on care to patients, including administering medications, wound care, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a current RN licensure in the state of employment or hold a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred but not required. Additionally, BLS certification is mandatory prior to completion of orientation, and ACLS certification is expected within the first six months of employment.
