Position Overview: The Program Director is responsible for overseeing the program site, ensuring exceptional learning experiences for children, maintaining a professional and effective staff, fostering positive relationships within the school community, and aligning the organization's mission, vision, and values as part of the Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Child Experience: Ensure that LASER values and best practices regarding curriculum and equity are implemented effectively at the site.
- Prioritize child safety in all program aspects.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the program and implement collaborative changes as necessary.
- Support curriculum planning and development.
- Lead communication and planning efforts to support children and families.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliant child files.
- Ensure compliance with licensing and relevant laws.
Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and support Site Supervisors.
- Oversee Assistant Teachers and Lead Teachers in collaboration with Site Supervisors.
- Manage HR issues in partnership with Site Supervisors and the Leadership Team.
- Conduct performance evaluations for staff in conjunction with Site Supervisors.
- Lead the hiring and onboarding processes for new staff.
- Manage staff schedules and absences.
- Plan ongoing professional development for staff.
- Exhibit professionalism, including effective communication and maintaining confidentiality.
Community Engagement:
- Manage day-to-day relationships with the school community.
- Oversee relationships with families in the program.
- Facilitate outreach, enrollment, and onboarding of families.
Organizational Integrity:
- Ensure alignment with LASER's vision and values.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to ensure consistency across sites.
- Promote a positive culture at the site and within the organization.
- Integrate equity and anti-bias practices in all site operations.
- Collaborate on budget understanding with the Executive Director.
- Engage in problem-solving and strategic planning with the Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in child education and one year in administration.
- Demonstrated passion for child development and advocacy.
- Reflective thinker with a problem-solving mindset.
- Familiarity with licensing requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive in improving systems.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance.
- Adaptable to changing situations.
