Job Purpose

The Centralized Underwriter plays a crucial role in evaluating and analyzing credit risks, reviewing credit histories, and making informed decisions regarding the approval or denial of credit extensions for potential or existing clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess credit information to evaluate the risks associated with extending credit.
  • Make informed decisions to approve or deny credit extensions within the authority limits set by senior management and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with branch staff by delivering exceptional customer service on all credit and policy inquiries to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Uphold an environment that promotes compliance.
  • Ensure timely communication of all credit decisions as per management's guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in underwriting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • High School diploma.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, or Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and a solid background in the consumer finance sector.

Working Conditions

  • This role primarily involves working in an office setting, seated at a desk, and utilizing a computer.
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Friday until 8:00 PM and occasional Saturdays until 3 PM is required.
