Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Driver to join our team at Rockingham County Schools. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and school bus regulations.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain discipline of students assigned to ride the bus, establishing a clear and consistent plan for behavior management.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the Transportation Department, providing detailed information and following established procedures.
  • Complete all required reports and paperwork, including daily logs and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and transportation staff to ensure smooth and efficient transportation operations.
Requirements
  • Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some experience driving large vehicles and transporting humans preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to operate a school bus, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Working Conditions
