Department Overview:

MITRE is at the forefront of addressing challenges in wireless communications, signal processing, and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). PNT systems, including GPS, atomic clocks, and inertial guidance, are essential for various sectors, such as emergency services, power management, and international trade. This entry-level opportunity for an engineer or physicist eager to learn within a globally respected PNT organization could mark the beginning of your career in this vital field.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting comprehensive modeling and simulation of communication and sensor systems.
  • Creating methodologies for detecting, locating, and identifying signals.
  • Developing prototypes of waveforms or algorithms in software-defined radios and related systems.
  • Evaluating cutting-edge PNT hardware through both laboratory and field testing.
  • This role necessitates a minimum of 50% on-site presence.

Key Duties:

  • Testing PNT technologies and analyzing experimental data.
  • Modeling, simulating, and assessing PNT technologies.
  • Contributing significantly to one or more projects within MITRE's established PNT program.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Typically requires less than one year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar modeling and data analysis software.
  • Strong technical foundation with knowledge of PNT-related technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance or higher.
  • Willingness to acquire new tools for emerging technologies and concepts.

Clearance Requirements:

This position does not require a clearance at the time of application but requires the candidate to obtain a Secret Clearance within one year of hire.

Salary Range:

$81,000 - $101,000 - $121,000 annually.

Work Location:

Hybrid.
