Job Description:

As a Senior Systems Engineer at The MITRE Corporation, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in systems engineering to support the development and deployment of nationally important solutions. You will work closely with government leaders to define the context, problem space, and vision for capabilities, priorities, roadmaps, and technology needs using modern system engineering approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply cutting-edge methods and tools to assess designs, identify, and mitigate performance constraints and gaps, evaluate proposed changes, and support verification and test.
  • Support MITRE teams in advising government leaders in defining the context, problem space, and vision to determine capabilities, priorities, roadmaps, and technology needs using modern system engineering approaches.
  • Support requirements management and analysis, interface management, architecture development, and test and evaluation processes.
  • Independently conduct qualitative and quantitative systems engineering analyses that can be translated into actionable recommendations for federal agencies.
  • Lead small teams of systems engineers to develop data-driven products to support government decision making.
  • Participate in internal and external research opportunities in cutting-edge engineering fields.
  • Apply systems engineering skills to drive a holistic approach to systems development and design.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline, and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US government clearance.
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative systems engineering tools, such as MagicDraw/Cameo, Rhapsody, AnyLogic, MatLab, or other relevant systems engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with plugins and extending the capability of system architecture modeling tools, such as MagicDraw/Cameo or Rhapsody.
  • Experience using UML/SysML or associated modeling software to support system development and SoS development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop a trusted advisor relationship with government leaders and effectively communicate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active clearance.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline.
