Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Clinician II GPG to join our team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the achievement of our departmental goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Professional Nursing Care: Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, treatments, and procedures in accordance with nursing standards. Monitor patient progress and referrals through regularly scheduled face-to-face appointments, telephone calls, and hospital visits.
  • Develop and Implement Care Plans: Assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Lead and Mentor Clinical Staff: Serve as a resource for LPN and MA staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality patient care. Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Manage Clinical Operations: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective clinical operations. Monitor and report on quality and safety issues, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide Education and Support: Educate patients and families about diagnostic procedures, medication adherence, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness. Provide patient education and serve as a resource to other clinical team members regarding particular expertise.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of professional nursing experience, with strong organizational skills. Previous office management/administrative experience preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: RN-Registered Nurse, licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. CPR-Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 days.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Professional Nursing Theory and Practice: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of Medical Equipment and Instruments: Administer patient care using medical equipment and instruments.
  • Skill in Establishing and Maintaining Effective Working Relationships: Work effectively with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to React Calmly and Effectively in Emergency Situations: Remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
