Job Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee the planning and administration of departmental projects for the installation of parking equipment and software. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the maintenance staff, ensuring assigned work is done in a timely and professional manner, and overseeing the installation of electrical circuits and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the planning and administration of departmental projects for the installation of parking equipment and software.
  • Oversee the maintenance staff, ensuring assigned work is done in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage the installation of electrical circuits and controls.
  • Coordinate with University and Hospital departments to ensure all work being carried out has a minimal impact on campus wide operations.
  • Approve all internal shop purchases and orders materials needed from external vendors.
  • Manage all department equipment and issues relating to equipment and software for 50 Parking Management employees.
  • Coordinate installation of phone equipment and data lines for all parking facilities equipment.
  • Oversee 80 video cameras throughout the parking facilities and reviews and recommends new camera installations.
  • Investigate incidents in the 7 parking garages and other Office of Parking Management properties via the Avigilon software and coordinate with Risk Management and Public Safety for investigations.
  • Manage and operate the MUSC Real-Time Parking Management Access and Control System (PMS).
  • Ensure system software and interfaces continuously providing real time and accurate service for the convenience and efficiency of university staff, students, medical professionals, and patients and visitors.
  • Train parking staff in the operation of Parking Management Access control equipment and procedures for reporting and correcting system outages.
  • Ensure parking management is apprised of current capabilities, restrictions, and limitations of the system.
  • Order all materials, tools and equipment and complete documentation for purchases and provide them to the accounting department.
  • Keep inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Manage the Parking Management vehicle fleet that includes trucks, cars and carts.
  • Notify Risk Management of any additions or deletions of owned vehicles and carts.
  • Retain all copies of maintenance records in an organized manner.
  • Work as the department manager for the AiM work order system.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and four years professional experience directly related to the area of employment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, assisted.
  • Ability to carry objects on plane, on ladders, upstairs, etc., weighing up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
  • Ability to push/pull equipment carts.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to operate winches, come-alongs, jacks, etc.
  • Possess maintain dexterity in order to use hand tools, both manual and powered.
  • Ability to qualify physically for respirator use.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
