Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Lead and expand the Distribution Line Design Team through mentoring and hiring new engineers.
  • Develop project proposals for estimating and securing new projects.
  • Maintain and nurture strong client relationships.
  • Review and refine processes and procedures within the Distribution and Transmission Design team.
  • Execute comprehensive Distribution line project designs and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Collaborate with electrical utilities on upgrading existing sub-transmission lines, including integrating fiber optic technology.
  • Design overhead distribution lines, with a preference for candidates experienced in PLS-CADD.
  • Conduct field surveys, assess structure strengths, and ensure compliance with electrical clearances.
  • Prepare construction packages, address construction inquiries, and finalize record documents.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Distribution design and a full understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Travel up to 15% for field surveys and client meetings.
  • Temporarily assume other roles and responsibilities as needed.

Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Over 3 years of experience in overhead and underground power line design, with a strong preference for PLS-CADD experience.
  • PE license (Civil or Structural) is highly desirable or actively pursuing one.
  • Project management skills.
  • Valid driver's license for multi-state travel.
  • Ability to lead engineering meetings and interface with clients effectively.
  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
