POSITION OVERVIEW

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is in search of a dedicated and skilled Senior Systems Developer to contribute to our projects in the Herndon, VA area. This role is pivotal in addressing intricate technical challenges and implementing new features requested by our clients, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth within our organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and enhance custom software applications for financial systems.
  • Evaluate problem reports and generate precise timelines for solution development.
  • Thoroughly document software code to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Assist business analysts and testers in identifying discrepancies.
  • Consistently and accurately update progress within software development tools.
  • Contribute to program documentation for design and solution components.
  • Guide junior developers and oversee development tasks as necessary.
  • Engage in regular computer operation and utilize office productivity equipment.
  • Frequently communicate with colleagues, management, and clients, which may include delivering presentations.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in systems development, finance, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in C++ development.
  • 2+ years of experience with webMethods.
  • 4+ years of Java programming experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in crafting complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with Momentum Financial Management software.
  • Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS environments.
  • Exposure to large-scale ERP development solutions.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to navigate between buildings as required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Capacity to manage stress with professionalism and maturity.
  • Proven critical thinking and leadership capabilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Momentum 8.x architecture (OpenShift Container Platform, JBoss, ActiveMQ).
  • 2+ years of experience in Javascript.
  • 1+ year of experience in a Linux development environment.
  • Familiarity with BIRT Report Designer.
  • Basic understanding of federal financial systems.
  • Knowledge of the SAP Business Objects tool suite.
  • Experience using JIRA.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and manage shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
