Payroll Specialist Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls using UKG Pro for salaried and hourly employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Audit employee time and labor data, and interact with supervisors as required to verify hours and resolve discrepancies.
  • Approve bi-weekly timesheets and PTO requests to build time import file for payroll in UTM.
  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls in a multi-state corporate environment, validating shift differentials and other pay based on assigned shifts.
  • Ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments, and other deductions of employee paychecks.
  • Assist with balancing of payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.
  • Accurately process garnishments and communicate garnishment information to all parties.
  • Responsible for monitoring, completing, and responding to department shared email box.
  • Liaison with UKG regarding payroll and UTM system issues and cases.
  • Run various payroll reports from UKG Pro, including some BI/People Analytics.
  • Special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of three (3) years payroll processing experience as Payroll Clerk, Coordinator, Administrator, or Analyst.
  • A minimum of an associate degree or bachelor's degree, or payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred, but not required.
  • Must have experience with UKG Pro Payroll (formerly known as UltiPro). Experience with UKG Time Management (UTM) preferred.
  • Prefer experience with Canada or global payroll processing.
  • Proven ability to complete work accurately, independently, and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong and proven customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills across departments as well as with external partners.
Skills/Competencies:
  • Required intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of UKG Pro (Formerly known as UltiPro).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Work Environment:
  • This is a Hybrid/Remote position. Employee must reside near Atlanta, GA.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and scanners.
