About the Position:

Take on a dynamic role as a Research Grants Coordinator (RGC) within the Office of Research.

Working closely with the Director of Sponsored Projects and Contracts, the RGC offers dedicated assistance to faculty and staff to ensure effective pre-award and award management processes. Flourish in a fast-paced, collaborative environment aimed at promoting research initiatives at SMU.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing persuasive sponsored project proposals, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and requirements.
  • Provide expertise on pre-award administration, proposal formulation, and policy interpretation.
  • Oversee submissions through various platforms, ensuring precision and completeness.
  • Support researchers during award negotiation and management phases.
  • Offer compliance guidance on progress reports, budget adjustments, and extension requests.
  • Conduct training sessions for researchers and faculty on grant processes.
  • Engage in continuous professional development in research administration.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with electronic Research Administration (eRA) systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift 25lbs and sit for extended periods.
