Position Summary:
The Safety Operations Coordinator is responsible for leading safety initiatives during assigned shifts. This role provides essential guidance and support for the facility's Poultry Safety and Health Programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and activities, providing necessary resources.
2. Offer insights to identify poultry processing hazards and suggest viable solutions.
3. Oversee employee training programs and ensure effective training activities.
4. Analyze accidents and incidents to determine root causes and instruct supervisors on conducting root cause analyses.
5. Manage corrective actions related to incidents, collaborating with area supervisors for effective follow-up.
6. Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance departments to track and document modifications and improvements.
7. Assist in the development of training materials and topics, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
8. Support the Complex Safety Manager in conducting facility audits and ensuring follow-up on findings.
9. Maintain the plant's Safety file plan in preparation for annual safety audits.
10. Monitor and report on safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Management Accountability Program metrics.
11. Ensure that necessary preventive measures are implemented and verified annually.
12. Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify workplace hazards and recommend improvements.
13. Participate in health-related committees and assist with employee health screenings and records management.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and life-safety codes.
- Knowledge of Ergonomics and Industrial Hygiene practices.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is required.
Working Environment:
This position involves spending approximately 70% of the time in a manufacturing setting, which may be cold and wet, and 30% in a controlled office environment.
