Cybersecurity Specialist:

Senior Level:
  • Conducts thorough investigations, analyses, and responses to cyber incidents within a networked environment.
  • Utilizes data gathered from various cyber defense tools (e.g., intrusion detection systems, firewalls, network traffic logs) to assess events occurring within their environments for the purpose of threat mitigation.
  • Interprets, analyzes, and documents all events and anomalies in accordance with established computer network protocols, including initiating, responding to, and reporting discovered incidents.
  • Evaluates, tests, recommends, coordinates, monitors, and maintains cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems, including access management for hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Ensures that cybersecurity strategies, controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures are in alignment with industry standards.
  • Identifies security vulnerabilities and exposures, determines the causes of security breaches, and proposes measures to prevent future incidents and enhance security.
  • Researches and assesses new concepts and methodologies to improve operational performance.
  • Analyzes complex problem sets, identifies root causes, and resolves issues effectively.
  • Develops methodologies and procedures for conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance audits, evaluates and tests hardware, firmware, and software for potential impacts on system security, and investigates and resolves security incidents such as intrusions, fraud, attacks, or data leaks.
  • May mentor and provide guidance to junior professionals.
  • May act as a team or task leader.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED with 14 years of experience
  • Associate's Degree with 12 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of experience
  • Master's Degree with 8 years of experience
  • Doctorate with 6 years of experience
  • NOTE: Relevant professional certifications may be considered equivalent to six (6) months of relevant experience.
Training and Certifications:
  • Incident Detection Team Members: GIAC Continuous Monitoring (GMON) or equivalent / Splunk Core Certified User / DoDD 8140/DoD M CNDSP Analyst (CND-A) Baseline Certification
  • Incident Response Team Members: GIAC Continuous Monitoring (GMON) or equivalent / Splunk Core Certified User / DoDD 8140/DoD M CNDSP Incident Responder (CND-IR) Baseline Certification
  • Defense Countermeasure Team Members: GIAC Continuous Monitoring (GMON) or equivalent DoDD 8140/DoD M CNDSP Infrastructure Support (CND-IS) Baseline Certification
  • Malware Analysis Team Members: GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) or equivalent DoDD 8140/DoD M CNDSP Analyst (CND-A) Baseline Certification
  • Cyber Defense Fusion Team Members: GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence (GCTI) or equivalent DoDD 8140/DoD M CNDSP Analyst (CND-A) Baseline Certification

Security Clearance:
  • Active TS SCI clearance and the willingness to undergo a polygraph examination if required.
