The Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our facilities team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the optimal functioning of our building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Conduct daily inspections of building systems to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of our equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs and replacements of equipment.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on maintenance procedures and best practices.
- Manage inventory and supplies to ensure that all necessary materials are on hand to perform maintenance tasks.
- Develop and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance history.
- Participate in emergency response efforts to address unexpected equipment failures or other facility-related issues.
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance supervision or a related field.
- NYC Fire Safety Director license required (must obtain within six months of hire).
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Mechanical solid knowledge of all building systems, infrastructure, HVAC, and construction.
- Knowledge and ability to operate tools of the trade.
- Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Programs and vendor management.
- Willingness to learn new skills and methods.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
- Sufficient stamina to perform all essential job functions for a normal eight-hour shift and up to a 16-hour shift in an emergency.
- Ability to walk the school property, climb stairs.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of the job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather for prolonged periods of time.
- Sufficient strength and flexibility for stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, climbing, carrying over 50 lbs, and other movements.
