Assistant Professor of Animal Genetics

The University of California, Davis is seeking an exceptional candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Animal Genetics. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic department and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in animal genetics.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to establish a research program in animal genetics, focusing on the genetic improvement of food animal populations. They will also be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in animal genetics and related areas, as well as mentoring students and contributing to departmental and university service.
Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent in a field of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Science, Animal Biology, Genetics, Genomics, or related field of food animal genetics at the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Leadership and organizational skills, evidence of scholarship during graduate and post-graduate activities, demonstrated ability to obtain extramural support for research activities, and interest in contributing to diversity and inclusion. The candidate should also have experience in teaching and mentoring students, as well as a strong commitment to public outreach and engagement.
Application Requirements
Curriculum Vitae with publication list, cover letter, statement of research accomplishments and future research plans, statement of teaching accomplishments and philosophy, statement of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and up to three publications. Three professional letters of recommendation are also required.
