Clinical Small Animal Internal Medicine Professor

**Position Summary**
The University of California, Davis is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Small Animal Internal Medicine. This is a full-time, tenure-track position that will be responsible for providing clinical instruction and supervision to veterinary students and residents, as well as conducting research and contributing to the development of the Small Animal Medicine Service of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH).
Responsibilities
**Clinical Responsibilities**
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, instructing, and supervising veterinary students and residents in the Small Animal Medicine Service of the VMTH. This will include providing health care and service to patients, advising and consulting with referring veterinarians and clients, and participating in the development of clinical protocols and procedures.
**Teaching Responsibilities**
The primary teaching responsibility will consist of clinical teaching in the VMTH, including direct daily supervision and instruction of senior students in small animal internal medicine. The successful candidate will also be responsible for participating in lectures and laboratories in the DVM professional curriculum, as well as contributing to the development of the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH.
**Research and Scholarship**
The successful candidate will be expected to advance the discipline of small animal internal medicine through participation and leadership in providing high-quality patient care in the hospital environment. This will include conducting research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, as well as participating in continuing education activities and professional organizations.
**Service**
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the VMTH through service on committees and participation in professional organizations. This will include participating in the development of clinical protocols and procedures, as well as contributing to the development of the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH.
Qualifications
**Basic Qualifications**
The successful candidate must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent, as well as advanced training in small animal internal medicine. Board certification or board eligibility by the American or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Small Animal is required. The successful candidate must also have clinical experience and competence in small animal internal medicine, as well as demonstrated aptitude/experience in teaching, particularly clinical instruction.
**Preferred Qualifications**
The successful candidate should have a strong background in small animal internal medicine, as well as experience in teaching and research. The successful candidate should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
