We are seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our nation's veterans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general adult psychiatric care, including diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy.
- Conduct direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.
- Evaluate diagnoses, including anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression, and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries.
- Establish professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed, and cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, and with other performance improvement activities as directed.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program Psychiatry/Psychiatric /Mental Health Residency leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).
- Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
- Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
- No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
