About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Psychiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general adult psychiatric care, including diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy.
  • Conduct direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.
  • Evaluate diagnoses, including anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression, and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries.
  • Establish professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed, and cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, and with other performance improvement activities as directed.
Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program Psychiatry/Psychiatric /Mental Health Residency leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
