Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Intake Specialist to join our team at the Houston Humane Society. As an integral part of our Intake Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all duties are performed efficiently and effectively.

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be able to fluently speak, read and write English, and have experience entering information into computer programs. Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist people who are surrendering their pets, explaining intake procedures and referring them to other agencies if necessary.
  • Assist other agencies transferring animals and perform necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate records and update animal information in Pet Point.
  • Inventory animal areas to determine daily capacity.
  • Call and set up appointments for owners to bring animals based on available space.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to enter data into Pet Point and AviMark.
  • Ability to work in an emotionally, mentally, and physically demanding environment.
  • Able to handle a variety of animals, including those that may be fractious, scared, or aggressive.

Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $55,000 per year
