Residential Care Specialist

Columbus House, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been serving men and women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless since 1982. Our mission is to provide shelter and housing while fostering personal growth and independence.
Role Summary
The Resident Support Specialist is responsible for providing oversight and support to residents in our shelters, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment. This involves conducting regular checks on residents' well-being, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with other organizations to address the complex needs of our residents.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting vulnerable populations and a commitment to delivering exceptional care.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure resident safety and well-being through regular checks and timely interventions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident interactions and activities.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to support resident engagement and participation in programming.
- Collaborate with external partners to access resources and services that support resident needs.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, and community stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience working with homeless populations or similar vulnerable groups is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents, colleagues, and external partners.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
Benefits
Columbus House offers a competitive salary range of $17.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development and advancement.
