NCH Healthcare System is a leading provider of comprehensive care in Southwest Florida. Our healthcare system is comprised of two hospitals, an alliance of 700+ physicians, and medical facilities in dozens of locations throughout the region.
Job SummaryThe Patient Service Representative/Scheduler plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinics. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients, completing administrative tasks associated with scheduling, patient interaction, and insurance verification.
Key Responsibilities- Fulfills patient care responsibilities, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
- Recognizes changes in patient condition and conveys them to clinical team members or providers.
- Collects patient history forms, including current medications, allergies, and symptoms.
- Obtains required personal information for new and existing patients, including demographic and financial data.
- Prioritizes insurance coverage and enters it into the patient's record.
- Verifies patient information on file and updates it as necessary.
- Obtains consents for treatment and completes required forms.
- Processes physician referrals and orders, entering tests into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Schedules appointments and radiological testing procedures based on patient needs.
- Announces scheduled patients to clinical staff and confirms appointments with patients.
- Collects and deposits insurance co-payments and deductibles.
- Monitors patient waiting time and relays information to patients and family members.
- Ensures benefits and eligibility have been verified for all scheduled patients.
- Accurately enters charges and payment information.
- Produces reports to reconcile charges and payments.
- Minimum of High School or GED required.
- Intermediate computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
