Role Overview

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the store's inventory and stockroom in alignment with Company standards. This position is essential for minimizing stock discrepancies, maintaining organized records, managing supply orders, adhering to cleanliness standards, handling merchandise with care, controlling expenses, and protecting company assets through effective inventory management practices. The Inventory Control Specialist will also provide support on the sales floor as required, demonstrating high standards in both areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently manage all shipping and receiving operations that impact store inventory.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized stockroom and receiving area, ensuring overall store cleanliness.
  • Process all incoming freight, vendor returns, transfers, and damaged goods in accordance with Company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with established Company policies and standards regarding receiving practices, including the safeguarding of Company assets and adherence to security protocols.
  • Collaborate with the corporate operations team to ensure smooth inventory processes.
  • Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts as required.
  • Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display upkeep, and general housekeeping tasks.
  • Support the implementation of price adjustments within the store.
  • Provide assistance in packaging or wrapping customer purchases when necessary.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and offer informed suggestions to enhance service and productivity in the receiving area.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
  • Engage in store meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in managing receiving operations, including the careful handling of merchandise.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to process information and merchandise using computer systems.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with operating necessary equipment, including phone systems and inventory-control software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and to lift and move boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
  • Previous experience in retail stock management, shipping, or receiving.
  • Prior experience in retail sales is advantageous.
