Rotational Molding Operator

The Rotational Molding Machine Operator will be responsible for observing and tending to the continuous operation of the automatic rotational molding machine. This includes installing dies, adding exact amounts of raw materials, observing machine cycles, and removing basins from molds to be cleaned and finished.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain production within quality standards
- Follow all applicable safety policies and procedures
- Complete all required safety training
- Keep machines clean and lubricated
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
- Assist Plant Manager and Supervisor as needed
- Work as a team with others in the plant
- Work any overtime as needed
- Observe continuous operation of automatic rotational molding machine to ensure that products meet specifications and detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary
- Set up, operate, and tend rotational molding machines to mold thermoplastic parts
- Position and secure work pieces on machines, and start feeding mechanisms
- Turn valves and dials of machines to regulate pressure, temperature, and speed and feed rates, and to set cycle times
- Remove basins from molds, using hand tools, air hoses, and other equipment
- Install dies onto rotational molding machines
- Measure the right amount of raw materials to produce product
- Climb stairs to place raw product (powder) in the rotational molding machine
- Assist with change of molds
- Experience in driving forklift
- Perform any and all other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
- Attend scheduled work hours as an essential function of this position
Supervise Rotational Molding Operators and Secondary employees
Physical Requirements- Balancing - maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching
- Bending and stooping - bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Climbing – ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and other devices using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
- Light carrying - physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Moderate carrying – items weighing 15-44 pounds, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Fingering – picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Grasping - applying pressure to an object with fingers, including thumb and palm, 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Feeling - perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Arm-hand steadiness - the ability to keep the hand and arm steady while moving the arm or while holding the arm and hand in one position
- Multi-limb coordination - the ability to coordinate two or more limbs i.e., two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm, while standing
- Static strength – the ability to exert maximum muscles force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
- Kneeling – bending legs at knees to come to rest on one or both knees, 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Lifting – raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position–to-position, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Light lifting – raising objects under 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Moderate lifting - raising objects 15-44 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another, 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Standing - 8 hours per day
- Pushing – using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or upward, 8 hour per day, intermittently
- Reaching above shoulder – extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction, 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Repetitive motion – substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time, approximately 8 hours per day, intermittently
- Control precision – the ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
- Rate control – the ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene
- Response orientation – the ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals (lights, sounds, etc.). It includes the speed with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot, or other body part
- Reaction time – the ability to quickly respond (with the hands, fingers, or feet) to a signal (sound, light, etc.) when it appears
- Heavy work – exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Visual requirement – employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, to see details at close range; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes
- Employee is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach
- Hearing requirement - perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations of sounds
- Employee is subject to extreme heat during certain times of the year. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
- The employee is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise (when operating the impact, air drill and/or chop saw)
- The employee is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
- The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions. One of more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, or gases
- Employee must have the ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines
- Ability to complete routine forms, using existing form letters and/or conduct routine oral communication
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
