Role Summary:
The Radiology Technician (Limited Scope) is responsible for conducting diagnostic imaging examinations under the guidance of a licensed Radiologic Technologist or Radiologist. This role emphasizes the production of high-quality radiographs while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. Adherence to all regulatory standards and maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial.
- Radiographic Procedures: Execute limited-scope radiographic examinations, including but not limited to chest and extremities, as directed by the supervising technologist or physician.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for radiologic procedures by explaining the process, positioning them accurately, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain radiographic equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
- Image Quality: Generate high-quality radiographic images for diagnostic use, ensuring clarity and compliance with required standards.
- Documentation: Keep precise patient records and documentation, including updates to patient charts and data entry into the hospital information system.
- Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations for limited scope radiography.
- Patient Care: Deliver exceptional patient care, promptly addressing patient needs and concerns.
- Collaboration: Work in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a focus on limited scope radiography.
- Certification: Current certification in limited scope radiography as mandated by the state. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clinical environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Proficient in conducting limited-scope radiographic exams, strong communication and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities, and basic computer skills for documentation and patient record management.
Environment: The role is performed in a clinical setting with exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, and bodily fluids. Adherence to safety measures and the use of protective equipment is essential.
Physical Demands: The position requires standing for extended periods, lifting and positioning patients, and handling radiographic equipment.
