Project Manager

WRTP|BIG STEP is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to lead the construction of the Northwestern Mutual North Office Building Modernization project. This $500 million development plan involves extensive interior and exterior renovations to the 540,000-square-foot building, mirroring the iconic architecture of the Tower and Commons, new connecting structures, and a pedestrian plaza on Cass Street.
The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining, evaluating, coordinating, and distributing information and authorizations necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the specified quality. They will protect and promote the interests of both the business and client in all matters, demonstrating the personal characteristics of a mid-level leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the change management process
- Participate in monthly cost report meetings
- Adhere to project controls procedures, including monthly cost control, pay requests, and cost reporting
- Effectively expedite material deliveries
- Accurately estimate and prepare shop drawings
- Encourage innovative approaches to problems and opportunities
- Proactively review customer feedback and build a customer-centric mentality within teams
Requirements:
- Communicate effectively, listening to understand and clearly conveying information
- Act inclusively, ensuring respectful actions and behaviors
- Solve problems, identifying and implementing alternatives
- Demonstrate agility and adaptability, maintaining effectiveness in changing situations
- Drive for results, delivering on business outcomes and creating a sense of individual ownership and accountability

Qualifications:
- 4-year engineering degree or equivalent training and experience
- 4-years of military service will be strongly considered
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Financial management familiarity
- Ability to articulate financial knowledge and customer satisfaction awareness
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) knowledge
- Understanding of contract documents and specifications
