Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Drivability and Emissions Technician to join our team at the State of Colorado. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing vehicle mass emissions tests, diagnosing and resolving emissions failures, and providing technical support to the public and repair industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and diagnose vehicle emissions failures for motorists
  • Support technical evaluation and study vehicle intake
  • Inspect, diagnose, document, and repair study vehicles
  • Participate in outreach and training
  • Investigate motorists complaints
Requirements
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in gasoline vehicle emissions diagnosis, repairs, or testing
  • ASE Certification(s)
  • Bilingual Spanish/English helpful
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience interpreting and applying information provided on a Vehicle Emissions Control Information Sticker (VECI)
  • Experience inspecting and documenting vehicle emissions control components
  • Experience with 5-gas analyzer and interpreting results to diagnose emissions problems
  • Experience with a variety of scan tools and comfort with On-Board diagnostics (OBD)
  • Experience operating an oscilloscope or graphing multi-meter
Working Conditions

This position requires independent and/or team travel to and from work locations in the performance of job-related duties. A valid Colorado Driver's License is required.
