Job Overview

Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers is a leading provider of automotive services, with a strong presence across 20 states. We're seeking a skilled State Vehicle Inspector to join our team, responsible for ensuring vehicles operating on state highways meet all requirements established by the state's department of motor vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of motor vehicles to ensure compliance with emission standards and governmental regulations
  • Inspect accessories, air lines, and electrical circuits to identify potential issues
  • Check for damage, broken headlights, leaks, and faulty blinkers to ensure vehicle safety
  • Test vehicles for wear-and-tear damage and inspect essential mechanical systems and components
  • Approve or deny vehicular inspection and issue inspection stickers
  • Advise service consultants/technicians on additional work and suggest improvements to vehicles that fail inspection
  • Keep records of vehicles inspected and check for illegal equipment installed on vehicles
  • Perform multi-point inspections and check preventive maintenance programs
Requirements
  • Current and valid license as a State Vehicle Inspector
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge in automotive repair and maintenance
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background screen
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer-focused attitude with ability to work well in a team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, and bending
  • At times, exerting lbs of force occasionally and/or lbs of force frequently and/or greater than 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects
