Role Summary:
The Float Pool Pharmacist plays a crucial role in supporting the Nuvance Pharmacy System by providing coverage across multiple practice locations. This position is essential for filling in during staff absences or assisting with special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and safely verify medication orders and dispense prescriptions to patients.
- Deliver current and clinically relevant drug information to colleagues within and outside the pharmacy department.
- Engage in clinical and operational initiatives aimed at promoting safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective medication management.
- Supervise and evaluate the tasks performed by pharmacy technicians and intern pharmacists.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, TJC, and other regulatory standards by demonstrating up-to-date knowledge and skills.
- Mentor PGY1 pharmacy residents and pharmacy students in applicable practice settings.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with a minimum of five years of pharmacy experience; must hold a valid pharmacist license in Connecticut or New York, with the expectation to obtain licensure in the second state within six months of hire; must be vaccine certified and a registered vaccinator in both states.
Preferred:
Completion of a PGY1 residency.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with standard hours of 40.00 per week. The work schedule is primarily during the day, with shifts varying based on the facility's needs.
Additional Information:
Essential physical requirements include significant manual dexterity, the ability to exert up to 35 lbs. of force, and some exposure to various occupational hazards.
