Job Summary

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park Superintendent III - Chief Ranger to lead the Districtwide Law Enforcement and Aquatic Safety Programs in the Monterey District. This is a critical role that requires a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Districtwide Law Enforcement and Aquatic Safety Programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to promote public safety and prevent accidents in the district.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to law enforcement and aquatic safety.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on law enforcement and aquatic safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Develop and manage budgets for law enforcement and aquatic safety programs.
  • Prepare and submit reports to senior management on program performance and progress.
Requirements
  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in law enforcement or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
