Job Summary

TAP Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for performing independent verification and validation (IV&V) of electronic components at the printed circuit board, chip, and wafer level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform IV&V of electronic components to ensure compliance with design specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of hardware and software engineers to assess microelectronic component designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols to validate electronic component performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues related to electronic component design and manufacturing.
Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with full scope polygraph.
  • BS in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7 years of experience in electronic component design, manufacturing, or testing.
  • Patient, detailed, and follows good safety practices.
  • Technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic systems or electronic components.
  • Experience processing microelectronic components and semiconductor materials using techniques and systems including:
    • Mechanical grinding and polishing.
    • Wet chemical processing.
    • Reactive plasma etching.
    • Thin film deposition.
    • Ion beam milling or sputtering.
  • Experience using optical microscopes or scanning electron microscopes for sample inspection.
  • Knowledge of electronic packaging, integrated circuits (ICs), failure analysis techniques, and semiconductor fabrication.
Clearance and Security

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, based on a current background investigation (SBI), as well as the favorable completion of a full scope polygraph. Clearance and polygraph processing will be completed by the U.S. Government.
