Speech and Language Therapist

The Maryland School for the Blind is seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, treatment, and consultation services to students with language, communication, and feeding impairments.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' communication needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address these needs.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Provide consultation to staff, parents, and community-based professionals to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Program Planning and Implementation: Monitor the implementation of program plans and make adjustments as needed to ensure students' communication needs are met.
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Support: Design, fabricate, and update AAC systems and materials to support students' communication needs.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- ASHA Certification: Must be certified or a clinical fellowship year candidate for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Licensure: Must have licensure by the Maryland State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Knowledge and Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of speech and language development, augmentative and alternative communication, oral motor function, and treatment and diagnostic techniques.
- Effective Communication: Must be an effective verbal communicator with good interpersonal skills and effective writing skills.
This position requires working in multiple indoor environments, on and off campus, with a variety of sound, lighting, and temperature conditions. The work schedule is 35 hours per week with a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch break, and additional time and flextime scheduling may be required for job completion.
