Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Manager to join our team at Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. As a Meat Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the meat department, including staff management, sales, margin, and labor control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the Meat Department staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor and control all costs and expenses within the department, including inventory control, ordering, and shrink.
  • Prepare weekly sales and labor projections to maximize sales and profits.
  • Ensure that the meat department is stocked and presented in a clean and organized manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Monitor and maintain proper temperatures and safety practices in the meat department.
  • Balance the meat general ledger and financial statements.
  • Manage and control inventory preparation and control, including back stock and accurate accounting for all products.
  • Use knowledge of scales, weight measures, and tares to accurately weigh and label meat products.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in a meat department or related field.
  • Preferred 3-5 years grocery retail experience in meat department processes and procedures.
  • Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.
  • Journeyman cutter program completed.
