Electrical Engineer Job Description

At Salas O'Brien, we're seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team in Newton, MA. As an Electrical Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing electrical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical system designs based on scope of work and client RFPs
  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of electrical systems for various market types
  • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing electrical systems
  • Develop system design calculations and select equipment for use in buildings
  • Write and edit project specifications
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Apply applicable code requirements to each project
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines
  • Provide construction administration services
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineering license a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience in the building design/construction industry
  • Knowledge in the design of power distribution, fire alarm, data & communication, lighting, and emergency power systems
  • Familiarity with local codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude
  • Good communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
  • Proficiency in Revit and MS Office
  • Experience with lighting software (Visual) a plus
