Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Designer to join our team at Burns & McDonnell. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for designing various electrical projects, including creating electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical projects, including creating detailed electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, and electrical power systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish project objectives.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for electrical projects.
  • Analyze reports, drawings, and tests to plan and design electrical projects.
  • Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to electrical design requirements.
  • Review and revise electrical designs to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project managers or senior engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a related field, and 7 years of related experience, or an associate's degree and 8 years of related experience, or 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of design software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel, and the ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Advanced ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
