Position Overview

The Lead Cashier Supervisor is tasked with overseeing register transactions related to the sale and return of merchandise. This role also involves supporting the Assistant Manager of Operations in various administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement
  • Represent Westlake Ace Hardware positively.
  • Welcome customers as they enter and exit the store, using their names when possible.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while working with customers and team members.
  • Ensure that excellent customer service is upheld by all supervised staff.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all calls and pages.
  • Communicate any issues requiring management attention.
  • Facilitate quick, accurate, and professional checkout experiences.
  • Perform cashier duties as necessary to minimize delays.
  • Possess comprehensive product knowledge and familiarity with store layout.
  • Ensure customers are greeted and thanked by name whenever feasible.
Register Management
  • Adhere to all cash register transaction protocols.
  • Responsible for ensuring the register drawer is balanced.
  • Implement any Store Support Center programs or promotions at the registers.
  • Assist with resolving register and computer issues as needed.
Cash Room Management
  • In the absence of the Assistant Manager-Operations, ensure cashier balancing procedures are adhered to.
  • Verify that deposit procedures and policies are followed daily in the absence of the Assistant Manager-Operations.
  • Assist in preparing deposits, long/short recaps, cashier over-short acknowledgments, and sales audits.
  • Conduct weekend vault counts and perform random vault verifications.
Administrative Support
  • Assist the Assistant Manager-Operations with various office tasks, including receiving, invoices, purchase orders, and inventory adjustments.
Audit Assistance
  • Provide support to the Assistant Manager-Operations in completing the quarterly audit checklist as needed.
  • Observe cashiers for proper phone etiquette, customer greetings, and return handling to ensure attentive service.
Front End Maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized front end at all times.
  • Ensure impulse counters are stocked and merchandise is rotated seasonally.
  • Keep fresh advertisements available in shopping carts.
  • Ensure forms and supplies are consistently stocked.
  • Assist in decorating the front end according to Store Support Center guidelines.
  • Request cart pickups as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Communicate merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to the General Manager.
  • Participate in store and cashier meetings.
  • Assist in training and developing new cashiers.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Manager-Operations to prepare for career advancement.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred experience in retail and/or office management, with cashier and customer service experience being advantageous.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and climb as needed.
Compensation

$12-$14 per hour
