As a vital member of the Division of Nursing, you will significantly influence the advancement of patient care and the professional growth of nursing students.

Role Responsibilities
The Nursing Education Specialist will take on various roles including educator, facilitator, consultant, and leader. This position is accountable for delivering instruction within the accelerated BSN nursing program in collaboration with designated universities and managing educational partnerships that support the objectives of the Department of Nursing (DON).

Department Overview
The Academic Partnerships team serves as the bridge for all academic initiatives at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. They oversee clinical relationships with both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, ensuring the successful execution of clinical practicums and fellowships.

Key Duties
- Exhibit clinical expertise and leadership to develop academic courses and educational programs that achieve optimal learning outcomes.
- Coordinate and plan both theoretical and practical education for nursing students as directed by the university program coordinator and the MWHC Program Director.
- Employ teaching strategies that foster critical thinking and evidence-based practice, integrating adult learning principles.
- Act as an educational expert on committees and projects to support initiatives within the Department of Nursing.
- Organize and lead orientation sessions and ongoing meetings with educational affiliates to ensure smooth acclimatization to the clinical environment and adherence to hospital policies and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Required), with a master’s degree in nursing, healthcare, or business administration (Preferred)
- Active DC RN License
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in nursing (Required)
- 1-2 years of teaching experience in a BSN program (Required)
