Surgical Instrument Sterilization Specialist Position

EviDent Alliance is seeking a dedicated Surgical Instrument Sterilization Specialist to become an integral part of our healthcare team. This role is vital in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety for our surgical tools and environments. Your meticulous approach and commitment to established sterilization procedures will greatly enhance patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine cleaning, decontamination, sorting, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Utilize autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and washer sterilizers to ensure instruments are available promptly for surgical procedures.
  • Keep accurate logs and records of maintenance and sterilization cycles.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of sterilization processes using biological and/or chemical indicators.
  • Prepare and organize trays, kits, and packs following established guidelines.
  • Manage inventory by rotating, storing, and ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Inspect non-instrument items for defects and ensure proper disposal of any damaged items.
  • Test the functionality of sterilization equipment, including steam sterilizers and ultrasonic cleaners.
  • Engage in departmental training, orientation, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Support the Hygienist with room sterilization and charting tasks.
  • Adhere to OSHA/WISHA standards, Aseptic Technique, and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in healthcare or dental environments is essential.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance is required.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging, dental assisting, and human anatomy is beneficial.
  • Expertise in infection control practices and procedures is expected.
  • Experience with X-Ray imaging and related software is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
